MCo were engaged to carry out essential external repairs and roofing works initially, however following reports of debris falling from the tower which turned out to be large pieces of flint, we erected the scaffold to the tower to investigate. Following surveys to the tower it was highlighted that the roof needed renewal along with substantial structural helifix crack repairs to the parapet and also the main tower structure. Externally there are multiple areas of flint and stone that need to be stabilised and repairs carried out in matching materials. However the 1st main issue was the decades of pigeon guano within the tower that needed removal to allow safe access to survey and carry out the follow on repairs. Currently the tower has been cleaned and we await approval to continue with the roofing/structural repairs that can be done in the current weather conditions. The fling/stone repairs will need to be carried out later in 2024 when the weather is more suited to use of the lime mortars and repair methods for the moment the tower which is the oldest part of the church has been safeguarded with the scaffold, once all the essential tower repairs are complete there are extensive stone/fling repairs to the other external areas of the church along with tiled roofing renewals and possibly new carved stone cross.
